Whilst the pandemic has and continues to, take its toll on our mental health, the ability to reconnect through World Mental Health Day 2022 will provide us with an opportunity to re-kindle our efforts to protect and improve mental health.
We asked Daniel Amann, CEO at edupression.com® by SOFY GmbH, to present us his digital health application in the field of mental health.
Could you tell us about your company?
edupression.com® is an intelligent and evidence-based digital health application for depression (DiGA). Mechanisms of action are psychoeducation, psychotherapy, and feedback therapy. It comes with an abundance of critical medical information guiding treatment algorithms, which improve symptoms and foster patient empowerment. edupression.com® is an EU-CE certified medical device and is compliant with FDA regulations for use in the US. edupression.com® can be used as a monotherapy or in combination with drug or talk therapy.
Your online depression therapy-program empowers people to fight depression and burnout. Can you tell us why it is necessary and how your program can help?
More than 320 million people worldwide suffer from depression. Many patients are not treated or not treated adequately. Furthermore, there is little disease-relevant knowledge about it and for many people, depression is therefore still a kind of “black box”. Changing this is a crucial factor – that’s why we built edupression.com®; it is based on the effective elements of psychoeducation, talk therapy and feedback therapy. Patients receive effective therapy sessions and personalized recommendations. In addition, patients can document and visualize the condition with various tools and thus better recognize correlations.
You are among the EIT Health Catapult Semi-finals. Could you tell us why you applied to the program and what you are expecting to achieve through it?
We are proud to be among the EIT Health Catapult Semi-Finals. We wanted to get a better awareness with edupression.com® and to present our therapy solution to a wider public and investors.
What are the next planned steps for your start-up?
We believe we are at the beginning of a dramatic change in the way we deal with and treat mental illness. Digitalization will enable many people to access effective therapy for the first time, but it will also improve existing treatment options or, ideally, prevent relapses in the first place.
