Insuring Digital Health – partners4patients 2021

While Digital transformation has found its way into physicians’ offices and hospitals, startups are still faced with the task of bringing their own digital innovations into line with the needs of patients and, above all, with the requirements of the health care system – in particular reimbursement schemes. For that reason, we are organizing the Insuring Digital Health event on 28 September 2021 together with the 5-HT Digital Hub for Chemistry & Health.

The event

For the third year in a row, the event offers a platform for connecting the healthcare sector: on one hand, health insurance funds, insurance companies, patient’s organisations, service providers, on the other, start-ups working with digital health solutions. In 2021 the “Insuring Digital Health” event will focus on patient solutions for improved and individualized diagnosis, treatment and medication options. Start-ups with a working prototype and proof of concept of a digital health solution in this field can present themselves and their services to insurance companies and health insurance companies and then explore the possibilities of further cooperation in individual sessions. The aim is to integrate innovative solutions from the startups in the field of digital health into the service portfolio of the health insurance funds.

Looking back at past editions

Over the past two years the Insuring Digital Health event has brought together start-ups and well-known representatives of statutory health insurances over pitch sessions, speed dating and networking opportunities, with the aim to present high tech solutions with high patient relevance and cost reduction potential for the healthcare system and integrate innovative solutions from start-ups in the field of digital health into the service portfolio of the health insurance companies.

Events of this kind are very important for all health insurances. I am especially pleased that the event takes place today in a rather small setting, which allows both the participating health insurance funds and the startups in one-on-one talks to discover concrete synergies and to agree on further steps. I can say for the KNAPPSCHAFT that I detected definitely two to three very interesting approaches today.

Daniela Glahn, Digital Project Manager, KNAPPSCHAFT

The patient of tomorrow, who is today 30 or 40 years old, will have a different expectation in terms of communication and care towards health insurance companies than it is the case today and we must be fair at an early stage. That’s why events of this kind are extremely important to us.

Innovations are problem solvers. They are also central to improving health care. Against this background, the format provides important impulses by bringing together innovators and ideas from different areas. It is particularly gratifying that COVID-19 cannot slow down this innovation process either.
