A plaster is only supposed to cover wounds from germs and to stop bleeding, right? Wrong! In 2015, the start-up COLDPLASMATECH was founded and reinvented the function of a traditional plaster. By using cold plasma, chronic and hardly curable wounds can not only be treated better and quicker but also the body’s self-healing process is stimulated.
The startup from Greifswald (Germany) has been awarded with various prizes in the past and was already able to convince various investors of their idea to date.
Most recently though, the company received additional funding by the Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MBMV), a German institution that supports startups by providing project financing. The company will use the money to conduct a clinical study regarding safety and effectiveness of the product.
We are happy to share these good news. Congratulations to the CEO Dr. Carsten Mahrenholz and the whole COLDPLASMATECH Team!
By the way: In 2017, COLDPLASMATECH also won the Audience Award at INNOVEIT, the EIT’s annual Innovation Forum. The event took place again on October 15, 2019 in Budapest. EIT Health Germany supported founders Maria Sievert from Inveox and Max Sieghold from Sleepiz were amongst the finalists, and Marc Julien of Diabeloop (another EIT Health supported venture) took away one of the coveted first prizes!
