The European Investment Fund (EIF) has published a call for expressions of interest from venture capital funds who want to cooperate with the Venture Centre of Excellence (VCoE), a partnership created by EIF and EIT Health with the goal of facilitating financing for European healthcare start-ups.
The VCoE is a collaborative framework that aims at fostering the networking, knowledge sharing, strategic collaborations, and bilateral sharing of investment opportunities taking the form of a privileged community comprised of life sciences stakeholders such corporates from pharma, med-tech, insurance companies; managers of life science venture capital funds, and entrepreneurs. The VCoE aims to catalyse €2bn in Life Science and brings together an exclusive member community of VCs, Corporates, Insurers, TTOs and others, wishing to co-invest in European Life Science start-ups. As announced in October 2020, the European Commission has expressed its strong support for the VCoE thanks to a €150m anchor investment.
According to the terms of our formal cooperation, EIT Health is responsible for managing the ongoing accession of Corporates, TTOs, health insurers and others to the VCoE programme. In parallel, EIF leads the VC selection process via the Call for Expression of Interest, which allows eligible Venture Capital funds (interested in acting as financial intermediaries for investments in healthcare innovations) to apply to join the VCoE as members.
The Call will be open until 6 January 2024, or such an earlier or later date as announced officially on EIF’s website (the “Call Period”). Applicants shall submit a formal Expression of Interest to the EIF before the end of the Call Period by email to the address SDUF-Health@eif.org.
