Transformative Digital Skills for Healthcare – new learning opportunity from Fraunhofer Academy

The new course offered by Fraunhofer Academy empowers healthcare professionals to understand and support digital innovation in hospitals.

Digital innovations are revolutionising healthcare. From clinicians to hospital managers, healthcare professionals need to be able to innovate, adapt and engage with new technologies and the changing pace of medicine. With this in mind, an international consortium consisting of researchers from the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the University of Barcelona and Oxford University Hospitals have developed a program, called Transformative Digital Skills Program.

The new program is specifically designed for healthcare professionals to gain an understanding of emerging digital technologies; how to transform processes, structures and cultures; and measure the value and benefit of these technologies in patient care. Designed by a multidisciplinary expert team to meet the rising demand for digital skills by healthcare professionals, the program  is composed of transversal skills, technology and management modules.

  • Transversal skills modules typically cover a broader, cross-thematic set of skills, necessary to understand and enable the digital transformation of healthcare.
  • Technology modules focus on specific technology applications that have a direct impact on healthcare.
  • Management modules are designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals with management responsibilities.

The program consists of 1 introduction tutorial and 8 individual content modules that will be offered 100% online from October 2020 onwards. It is delivered online with self -paced learning content, virtual classrooms and individual project work. The average learning time for a course will be 15 hours within a 4 to 5 week period.
