Four DACH startups awarded through the Start-up Rescue Instrument

EIT Health has awarded 11 start-ups in Europe with the new Start-up Rescue Instrument, with the goal of supporting their  business continuity in response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Four of them come from the DACH region: Volumina Medical, Portabiles HealthCare Technologies, Hemotune and Allcyte.

Part of the EIT Crisis Response Initiative, the EIT Health Start-up Rescue Instrument was created to alleviate the economic shock posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The new instrument is aimed to support highly innovative ventures by increasing investor firepower and bridging the fundraising gap of start-ups in Series A, Series B and bridge-financing rounds. In addition to providing a boost to bridge financing rounds, EIT Health will offer selected start-ups a strong network of partners and introduce them to other opportunities in the EIT Health portfolio programmes.

Following the evaluation process, a total of 11 start-ups were selected to receive up to €500,000, and use the investment to further develop their solutions in cancer, infectious diseases, wound and joint care, medical imaging, and cardiovascular disease.

The selected start-ups from the DACH region:

Allcyte GmbH (Austria): Allcyte is a biotech start-up company focused on functional drug testing in primary human material.
