Around three weeks to go for our 16 nominees of this year’ s SHIP – Ship for Health Innovation Pitches on the 26th June.This is part two of our short editorial series presenting four nominees with their business ideas and their expectations on the EIT Health Headstart Awards at a time. We continue with AUCTEQ, MrShim, IRUBIS and VISSEIRO…

What is so brilliant about your business idea?

The expandable AUCTEQ bioreactor reduces multiple manual procedures to one single and simple working step. The reduction of culture vessels and manual procedures reduces contamination risks, plastic waste, working time, process costs and increases the efficiency of industrial cell culture processes.

Why do you think you deserve the Grant?

We offer an ecological and economical product to support efficiency and sustainability in production processes of biological drugs for the benefit of both, industry and patients.

What are your expectations on a possible collaboration with EIT Health?

We expect to connect with people from the EIT Health network to drive our product towards market readiness and global implementation.

Just in case you win the Headstart Grant – what are your plans with the 50k?

At the end of 2019 we are entering the national registration phases of our PCT patent, additionally the grant will support our development and optimization efforts.

What message do you have for the EIT Health community?

We can´t wait to get in touch with everybody, get ready for us, we are ready for you 😉

What is so brilliant about your business idea?

Our technology will change the way we do MRI scans and revolutionize MRI diagnostic quality. Our plug-and-play device can be used on any MRI device and make it more reliable. We have already received great interest from MRI vendors, clinics and researchers.

Why do you think you deserve the Grant?

Our team is highly experienced and has already developed our innovative technology with a proof-of-concept. Furthermore, we have gained traction by acquiring customers. The grant will contribute significantly to our long-term goals and is a good investment in our future that will pay off soon.

What are your expectations on a possible collaboration with EIT Health?
We look forward to extending our network within the vast community of EIT health and forming strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in our field. We plan to play our part by contributing to a successful startup eco-system within the EIT health community.

Just in case you win the Headstart Grant – what are your plans with the 50k?
We plan to use the Headstart grant to take the leap forward with our product and take it to the series production stage. In addition, we will use part of the grant for some early marketing efforts as well as further business development.

What message do you have for the EIT Health community?
We believe the EIT health community is a unique environment for continued networking and growth. Ordinary conversations might lead to key partnerships and new opportunities! We encourage everyone to engage more and be open to new possibilities.

What is so brilliant about your business idea?

We have invented the first single use Mid-IR spectroscopy sensor element. At the same time single use equipment currently revolutionizes bioprocessing. Still, what missing is a single use sensor to monitor these processes online. In the end we offer the ideal solution for what this market is looking for.

Why do you think you deserve the Grant?

In our case the 50k grant has a way huger impact as one would think. It basically enables us to finish the proof of concept test series and enables us to raise a large seed-round.

What are your expectations on a possible collaboration with EIT Health?

Quite divers! We are seeking contact to potential investors, potential customer like biopharma companies and we hope to benefit from the contact to other life sciences start-ups.

Just in case you win the Headstart Grant – what are your plans with the 50k?

It will help us building up the next iteration of our prototype and thus closes the gap to raise a seed-round.

What message do you have for the EIT Health community?

Keep innovating!

What is so brilliant about your business idea?

The Team of VISSEIRO developed a stable, invisible, contactless and easy to use technology for long term health data acquisition and analysis. Everyone can use: You just have to sit down regularly on your favorite arm-chair: No one can forget or do wrong.

Why do you think you deserve the Grant?

We take care that elderly people can stay in their loved home instead of moving to the nursing home. The grant will enable us to lean start the first pilot with patients in private homes.

What are your expectations on a possible collaboration with EIT Health?

We would like to join all opportunities the EIT Health ecosystem can offer us. We already met many interesting companies though the EIT ecosystem and joined meetings and events. We would love to present our project, our learnings and achievements at one of the mentioned ecosystem integration to spread our gained knowledge.

Just in case you win the Headstart Grant – wat are your plans with the 50k?

EIT Health funding enables us to focus on how to present the USP of our smart senior cushion in the best way for the user. This allows us to add value for customers and therefore make it easier to place the product successfully on the market.

What message do you have for the EIT Health community?

Together and with new technology we can make healthcare more accessible and easier for everyone, because: “Getting people to adhere to medical interventions could have a greater impact on world health than any specific medical treatment.” (WHO)
