New Director for Cancer Research Centre at TUM

Prof. Oliver Hayden has taken over the management of TranslaTUM, the Central Institute for Translational Cancer Research at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

The holder of the Heinz-Nixdorf Chair of Biomedical Electronics will head the TranslaTUM for the next three years. Hayden succeeds founding director Prof. Markus Schwaiger, Medical Director of the Klinikum rechts der Isar, the university hospital of the TUM.The TranslaTUM started operations in autumn 2017. The declared goal of the interdisciplinary research centre is rapid translation, i.e. the rapid transfer of the latest scientific findings into patient care. The close cooperation of different research disciplines is intended to accelerate research into cancer and the development of new treatment approaches. In the meantime, the TranslaTUM employs more than 250 people from the fields of medicine, engineering and natural sciences.
